Working Process
Book Block Preparation: The production line usually starts with the preparation of the book block. It can receive the pre-printed and folded signatures from the printing press or the previous production process, and then assemble and stitch them into a complete book block through a collating and sewing machine.
Rounding and Backing: The book block enters the rounding station, where the edges of the book block are rounded by rollers to make the shape of the book more aesthetic and conform to the requirements of hardcover binding. After rounding, the book block is sent to the backing station, where the joint area of the book block is backed laterally by backing jaws to make the book block more solid and flat.
Spine Processing: A forming iron gives the book spine its desired form and width. Then, the spine of the book block is glued with hot glue, gauzed, and backlined. The gauze and backlining materials can enhance the strength and durability of the book spine.
Head Banding and End Sheet Gluing: Head banding takes place during the timed transport. The glued book block is guided into the aligned bookcase using the transport wings. The joint and end sheets are glued on both book block sides to connect the book block and the hardcover case firmly.
Casing In and Pressing: The book block is pushed onto the splitter sword and taken over by the transport wings of a paternoster system. The book block and case are pressed together in the book clamp or the oil pressure system to make the hardcover case and the book block fit tightly and smoothly.
